Contact businesses and private individuals by telephone to promote products, services and/or charitable causes

Solicit orders for goods and services over the telephone

Explain the product or service to potential customers

Deliver scripted sales pitch to the customer

Adjust scripted sales pitch to meet needs of specific individuals

Provide pricing details

Handle customer questionsIf a candidate prefers to be a ‘lone wolf’, they’re probably not the right pick. Customer service reps are always communicating – with clients and customers, as well as with the rest of your team. They need to be easy to get along with, charismatic, and (almost always) extroverted. At the same time, you need a customer service agent who can work independently. They shouldn’t require constant supervision, but should enjoy teamwork.

Obtain customer information including names and addresses

High school diploma or equivalent.

Prior experience as a Telecaller or similar.

Completion of a sales-related training program is preferred.

Computer literate.

Exposure to diverse viewpoints, cultural norms, and experiences.

Superb verbal communication.

Ability to switch your communication style on a whim.

Superb interpersonal, research, and record-keeping skills.

Capacity to receive critique without internalizing it.

Interview questions for Telemarketers

1. What is your long-term career goal?

Reveals if the candidate is interested in working in sales in the future and if they will return your investment into their training.

2.How would you handle an unreasonable request from a customer? Provide examples using experience.

3.: Give me an example of a time you went to great lengths to help a customer.

4.4: How well do you work under high pressure/in high stress situations?

5.: How would you tackle X client complaint?
